Frequently asked questions

What we get asked most

How long does trademark registration take in Argentina?+
Between 12 and 18 months when no one opposes. Protection runs from the filing date, not from the certificate: from day one you have priority over the mark.
Do I need a local agent to register a trademark in Argentina?+
Applicants domiciled abroad must act through a registered industrial property agent in Argentina. Both of our attorneys hold that registration with INPI, so there is no intermediary between you and the office.
Is copyright registered or automatic in Argentina?+
Protection arises with the work, with no formalities. Registration with the National Copyright Office (DNDA) does not create the right, but it gives you the proof of date and authorship you will need if someone later disputes who created it first.
What about content created with artificial intelligence?+
It depends on how much you contributed. Output generated entirely by a tool has no protectable author; what you directed, edited and curated may. We review it case by case, together with the licences of the tools you use.
How much does it cost to register a trademark in Argentina?+
US$400 for the first class and US$200 for each additional class, official INPI fees included (100 UMAPI per class, ARS 40,569 as of 15 September 2026). How the fee is calculated →
Do you work with clients outside Argentina?+
Yes. INPI and the DNDA are national registries, so the procedure is the same from anywhere in the world. We work by video call, email and WhatsApp, with digital signature, in English and Spanish.
